We’d like to introduce you to all participants of Art Market Jakarta 7 that will be held on April 28-30, 2017 at Kuningan City, South Jakarta. One of them is Simpul Idea. Read our Q&A below:
Catalyst Arts (CA): Tell us a little bit about your brand, and how you came to begin your brand.
Simpul Idea (SI): I love crafting since I was in high school. I also made friendship bracelets for sale during my time in college, but I stopped it later because I worked full time and had no more time to do it. Along the way, I got married and made a decision not to work full time and to establish my own brand. I did nothing for seven months, got bored, but I still had no idea what to make. Thanks to Pinterest, I finally had a decision to create knotted pillows! Up until now, I’ve created seven types of knotted pillows and I haven’t found any other brands that make this kind of product. So, the opportunity is still wide open. With the support of my husband, I’ve managed to establish Simpul Idea, a brand that produces knotted pillows with various types and colours.
CA: What kind of artworks or products that you prepare for Art Market Jakarta 7?
SI: Simpul Pillow: Turk Head Knot, Ocean Knot, Swirl Knot, Star Knot, Ball Knot, Good Luck Knot, and Braids Knot; and Hoopart.
CA: Tell us about your favourite product from your collection!
SI: Bantal Simpul types (Turk Head Knot, Swirl Knot, and Star Knot), because it was difficult to make those three pillows and you can’t find pillows like that anywhere but here. The pillows are also our best seller.
CA: Name one resource that inspires your brand the most.
SI: Pinterest.
CA: What is your plan for your brand in the near future?
SI: Develop my skills in art industry that can be applied onto daily life, such as home decor specialist.
